About

Hello! My name is Lily. I am an experienced STEM educator with over a decade of experience teaching math and science. I earned my B.A. in Physics with a minor in Economics from Wellesley College and a master's degree in Math for Teaching from Harvard, where I was on the Dean's List. Having lived and worked in Barcelona, London, Hong Kong, and Beijing, I bring a diverse perspective to my teaching. I can teach in both English and Mandarin.

As a former engineer for an S&P 50 company, I have hands-on experience building mathematical models and implementing machine learning. I have taught a wide range of subjects, including pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, precalculus, calculus, physics, and Mandarin. I have also taught medical Mandarin to medical students.

My teaching style personalizes according to each student's unique learning interests and abilities to make learning engaging and effective. Together, we can find ways to make the subject more relatable for you, whether you are a drama student, a social studies buff, or a lover of numbers.

For SAT/ACT preparation, I go beyond teaching test-taking strategies. I make connections to students' math, science, English, and history curricula, providing vital context for the test questions. My students frequently report that the test content they learn from me are transferable to their other courses and APs. I am also prepared to help students transition to the digital SAT.

Mentoring students for STEM competitions is another passion of mine. I prepare students for the American Mathematics Competition (AMC) and International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF). With my in-depth knowledge of STEM and public speaking, I coach students to present highly technical content to judges, professionals, and lay audiences.

I hold a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and have taught for almost two decades. Above all, Tae Kwon Do has given me resilience and the ability to bounce back from setbacks. As an educator, I bring this resilience to my students, empowering them to turn setbacks into comebacks.
